Hostaria al Gladiatore

Piazza del Colosseo 5
Four cheese - so average

This was actually worse than average.  The pizza family was visiting and were staying at an apartment very close by. I came by on my lunch break so didn't have much time so we went here, despite my warnings that it was likely to be pretty bad.
Well, I was right, but it was still worth it. The pizza tasted like it was bought frozen from Canada and wasn't much better than you could get back home. But as it was literally across the street from the Colosseum it had a captive audience (and there are very few places to eat near the Colosseum as the Forum, Circus Maximus and Palintine Hill take up a lot of space) so they probably survive off of families whose children see that it says Gladiator and it is close by.

Margherita
This gets a few extra points for being beside the coliseum, but it really can’t make up for the quality of the pizza.  This was not only my first pizza here but also my first meal at all in Italy.  As such, you have to also factor in the fact that this was my first time dealing with Italian service and restaurants.
I kept it simple and went with the traditional margherita pizza, which I remember being about 12 euros.
This pizza made me wonder what the heck my brother was doing wasting his time reviewing all this pizza.  This wasn’t a horrible pizza, certainly, but it wasn’t anything to literally write home about.
